Do I Need Fertility Treatments?

The number of women utilizing Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) has more than doubled in recent years. It’s become mainstream, which is wonderful for the women who really need it (and who have success). However, there is some missing information. The number of women who truly need ART, including IUI, IVF or Clomid, is actually much lower than the number of women who think they need it. If there were no consequences to it, this wouldn’t be a loss. Yet the roller coaster of ART can be traumatizing to the expectant mom and couple, with so many office visits, hormone pills and/or injections, medical procedures, big expenses, and heightened hope with a bigger crash if it doesn’t work out. If it is successful (reports show an average of 15.7% - 47.5%, depending on age primarily, see charts below*), it’s often depleting to the woman or couple just before the biggest change of their lives. Of course, the value of the child is worth it, but there is almost always another way.

Whether you have had multiple failed IVF cycles or other ART treatments, whether you have seen negative pregnancy tests for over a year, or you are just starting to think about pregnancy, this information is invaluable to you. The reality is, Infertility is really a myth. The diagnosis of Infertility is actually just describing the symptoms, not the underlying imbalances. There are always underlying imbalances, in physiology and/or mind, that create the lack of fertility. Jumping to ART does not address or improve most of these imbalances. It may address certain hormonal balancing, but not by creating balance in the body, rather by replacing or modifying with hormones...which the woman is unlikely to maintain on her own after the pregnancy, leaving her in less than ideal health as she becomes mom. Many other imbalances are not even touched by the ART and some are made worse. Some of the underlying imbalances creating “infertility” that can be balanced through gentle, natural means (with the guidance of the right practitioner) are high FSH levels, luteal phase defect, PCOS, endometriosis, or many months even years of negative tests, just to name a few.

I will tell you the surprising truth that it is typically much more simple to correct your imbalances than the current trends show. I know you want to conceive and carry your baby more than anything. Please read “Top Tips to Increase Your Fertility” in my blog. Or, reach out to me for personalized guidance, step by step.
